Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be well aware that Round 1 of the 2019 Link ECU Drift Games Extreme series kicks off this weekend in Mondello Park, and for those of you coming along to the event, it’s time to let us talk you through exactly what you can expect to check out this Saturday & Sunday!
Link ECU Drift Games Extreme Competition:
Of course the first thing to mention is the on-track action at Round 1, which will see 40 of the best Irish and overseas drivers going to war on a brand new, never before used track layout in Mondello Park.
With returning Irish heroes and fresh International talent joining the top Irish drivers for practice and qualifying on Saturday and battle-action on Sunday, the on-track action at DGX Round 1 is going to be absolutely INSANE!
Check out the full timetable, driver list, track layout, ticket information and much more on the full Round 1 information page now.
Drift Games Challenges:
With Top 32 battle action finishing up at 1.00pm on Sunday, we didn’t want 16 drivers heading home empty-handed, so it’s time to introduce our SECOND competition at DGX Round 1 – the all-new Drift Games Challenges.
In this new event segment, the 16 drivers exiting the DGX competition at Top 32 stage will now take part in a series of challenges alongside the main DGX competition to see who will be crowned the Drift Games Challenge champion at Round 1.
From backwards entries to team drift and freestyle drifting to a final drift battle, the Drift Games Challenges have something for everyone to enjoy!
Modified Live Car Show:
It’s not only on the track where you’ll be able to check out some incredible
Drift Games Fanzone:
The all-new Drift Games Fanzone will be located in the top paddock in Mondello Park and will be based all around the new-look Drift Games Merchandise store.
As always you’ll be able to get your hands on all the latest Drift Games merchandise, and every order will also receive a free Modified Live poster, while stocks last.
Not only that, but Drift Games LIVE host Nathan Black will be on hand with plenty of Drift Games balloons for the kids, as well as fun giveaways all throughout the weekend.
Thanks to our good friends at the Virtual Race Academy, Suite 2 above the Mondello Park pit garages will be open on both Saturday and Sunday, where you’ll be able to drop in and have a go on one of their amazing simulator setups!
Not only that, if you’ve always wanted to see about getting a simulator of your own, one of the VRA team will be on-hand to discuss your options on both days.
DG Behind the Scenes Tour:
Always wanted to check out the Drift Games LIVE set or Drift Games HQ? Or maybe you want to see the track just how the judges see it?
On Saturday, April 20th at 6.00pm, anyone with a weekend ticket can make their way to Suite 8 (the Grand Prix suite) above the Mondello Park pit garages to take part in the behind the scenes tour FOR FREE!
We’ll start off with a quick intro from Drift Games boss David Egan in our driver briefing room, before checking out Drift Games HQ and the Drift Games LIVE set, where you’ll have a chance to heckle Nathan Black on the set of his own show.
We’ll then move on to the Mondello Park garages, where you can catch a glimpse of many of our DGX drivers, as many of them prepare their cars for Sunday’s battle action.
That’s not all though, because we’ll then move on to our livestream broadcast truck, where you’ll get a chance to see the inner workings of our livestream operation.
Before returning back to Suite 8 for a short Q&A with some of our drivers, we’ll take a trip to the Drift Games judging & commentary tower to check out where all the action goes down during a DGX event weekend.
Trust us when we say, if you’re a die-hard Drift Games fan, this is the
